Back Pithoragarh District Back
Bordering  in the north  with China  and Nepal in   the  east,  Pithoragarh    district   presents nature   in  all  its   manifestations   like  snow clapped    peaks,    gracious    glaciers,   silky meadows,  lush   green   valleys   and   rivers. Majority of people are in Armed Forces (Retired and serving). Border areas of Dharchula and Munsiyari are inhabited by Bhotia community once trading with Tibat and China. Woolen items made by Bhotias are  rated best. Pancheshwar is a delight for Fish Game lovers and famous for Kali Golden Mahaseer. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra passed through the district. Tourists are not allowed beyond certain points without permission.

Kali Ganga originates from the lap of Namik Glacier and joined by Saryu at  Rameshwar and Ramganga (east) at Pancheshwar demarcates the International boundary with Nepal.
